That's a wrap for camp!

The exciting week of camp has come to an end.  I hope your child had a blast at Camp Learned-A-Lot.  I can't thank you enough for helping purchase supplies to make the event successful.  The snacks were a camp favorite for all of our campers!  Mrs. Lovelace and Mrs. Hartje also worked extra hard helping me prepare items for not only our class but Mrs. Elkins and Mrs. Vlorath.  It was a success and a memory for many years.  Check out the slideshow here to see just a few of our highlights!

We celebrated a birthday during camp this week too!  Happy Birthday Morgan!

Just a few reminders as we wrap up the year:
  • Send an extra bag or stop by to help clean out your child's locker.  Some students still have winter gear that needs to make it home.
  • We will be going to Elephant Park on Tuesday.  It may be a bit chilly, so please send a coat or sweatshirt.  Also send a sack lunch, water bottle, and snack.  Some students requested baseball equipment and that is fine as long as they are responsible for it.  We will be sharing the park with kindergarten and 3rd grade on our day.
  • We will go bowling on Wednesday at 12:30.  Students do not need any money.  Our wonderful PTA is sponsoring the field trip again this year!
  • Field Day will take place on Thursday at 1:15.  Students should dress according to the weather and bring a water bottle.  It is supposed to be warm so sunscreen is suggested too!
Thank you for an amazing and memorable year!  I say it year after year, but I am so blessed to be at Washington!  I look forward to seeing your students next year when they return as 2nd graders!

The end is near...

It is hard to believe that this will be one of my final posts of the year.  It has been a wonderful adventure and we have all had a lot of fun together.  I hope that these last few weeks bring lots of joy, fun, and reflection for the students.  This week will be very busy with extra rehearsals for our Reading Medalist and Music concert and Pizza Party!  Just a reminder, the program will begin at 1:15 in the gym on Friday, May 19.  I'll warn you now, it will be a full house so come early!  We will have a short reception in the multi-purpose room, and then students can stop back in the room to pick up a few pieces of art and some classroom materials that are ready to go home.  Just a quick reminder that students can bring their outfit for the event to school.  The students will be having an extra recess with Mr. Carlson that morning so they are bound to get a bit dirty.  Mrs. Hartje, Mrs. Lovelace and I will make sure to get shirts tucked in, hair combed and bows tied so they are ready for the show!

Last week we had the pleasure of attended Operation Big Band-Aid at Essentia Health.  The students participate in a play about a patient getting her tonsils removed.  Each student has a part and through the process, the nurse reassures the students nerves of a potential hospital stay.  It was a fun visit!

On Thursday the Fargo Fire Department visited in their final lesson of Learn Not to Burn.  The students were an exceptional audience, answering questions and asking questions at appropriate times.  Wow!  They are ready for 2nd grade!

Both Finn and Andrew celebrated May birthdays!  We hope they had fun celebrating!
